Announcing the First 366 Weird Movies Video Reviews

Howdy gremlins and goblins! Just a minute while I talk to some old people:

(This domain goes back to 2006, and I still get fanmail from my old material, so I know some old-timers have followed on. You folks know that my longest-continuous blogging gig is 366WeirdMovies. So if you know my review history, you must be on pins and needles wondering which film I selected for the very first video review. (Actually I know you all are wondering, I’m just stalling for the suspense.)

Anyway, for the rest of you: Hey kids I video-reviewed an old horror movie! It’s 1974’s Legacy of Satan, a movie not quite weird enough to be honored on The List, but worth an eyeball that seeks out weirdness. Made in partnership with some colleagues of mine from there, Giles Edwards and Greg Smalley.

But let me back up a bit here while the piano player warms up the lounge for me, because the story of how this project came together is gonna blow the training wheels right off your unicycle…

My 123ish Posts : An Updated Link List

One of my clients, 123ish.com, is an international platform which has been gracefully accepting some of my most maddened rants over the years. Sadly, they do not have a way to link to an author’s page using their set-up. So from here on out, I will maintain this specific blog post and link it from this site’s front page, serving as a pseudo-directory to my work over there.

Links to all my 123ish.com posts in chronological order (bottom = newest) after the jump:

How To Build An EDH Deck For Magic: The Gathering

I’ve copped a new squat over at 123ish.com, where you’ll find my new guide to building an EDH deck in Magic: The Gathering. It’s a fun little topic I’ve been meaning to jabber about anyway. I lay out a beginner’s template and explain the basics, and link to several time-tested resources.

Hope to see you all across the playmat from me!

I’m back! Miss me yet?

Ha ha, and I thought I could do without a blog!

This time I have two purposes:

  1. After two decades of freelance writing for the web and social media, I have accumulated an archive of past works without a home. Clients come and go in this business for any number of reasons; they retire, get promoted, sell out, quit, or otherwise sever our professional relationship. Then the site goes down, and all my content is now offline. Thus, with the original publishers’ permissions where I can get it, I’ll be re-hosting my works here for a more permanent archive.
  2. There’s a huge public interest in freelancing itself that wasn’t there twenty years ago. New generations are coming along, with growing interest in a freelancing career but with no clue where to start. I see enough newbies floundering around in forums out there that I feel I can do them some good. So I’ll be playing freelancer guru here.

Well, of course, I’ll also be bragging about my latest gigs, career moves, and adventures in this space too. I might as well. And this time, everything’s going to run nice and smoothly, isn’t it?
