I've been up in arms about Stumble-Upon for a while now. Remember just a few posts back when I said "one more peep out of this bossy little extension and out it goes"???

Guess what?

I just got spam!

From Stumble Upon!

TITLE: Try Stumble Video from StumbleUpon

You are invited to try out the new Stumble Video!
Stumble Video is a new service from StumbleUpon that automatically finds and plays videos that match your interests. It's the same great technology that powers the StumbleUpon toolbar used by over 1.9 million people.

And so on. Mind you, they somehow bypassed the 'junk box' email address which I used to sign up with their account - and which I intentionally use for potentially chatty contacts - oh no! - they sent it to my PRIVATE, WORK-ONLY GMAIL account! How the hell anybody got that address is beyond me, because it's exclusively for client interaction and not given out for any other reason. It is also the first spam I've seen coming to my Gmail account that didn't get caught by the filter.

What awesome audacity! So much for the Firefox Plugin That Tried to Take Over the World. Ne_e_ext?

It's a good thing I never really tried on Stumble-upon. Saw it last year but never really fancied the idea of using it actively.

I was addicted to that for a while. When I kept stumbling on advertisements I decided that my life was worth a bit more than that. I also was told that I was really hot by an older russian lady... that was just too bizarre.

StumbleUpon is beyond Malware. It completely kludged my Netscape email client. I'm now unable to send emails and the POS StumbleUpon site points to an uninstall plugin which has not been released.

I can't say enough bad things about StumbleUpon. I fervently hope that StumbleUpon developers get everything they deserve.

I made the mistake of installing Stumbleupon on my computer where I use Netscape as my browser. I have since found that it is imposibly to remove it once it is in. I've looked all over the internet for advice on how to remove it and the best guess I get is to edit the registry and then manually remove a file. This sucks. My advice....skip the stumble upon install in the first place.

I uninstalled the toolbar because it was causing me major probs, but I still it through the Shareaholic add-on and I haven't had any problems since. I think it's the toolbar that causes the problems.

so does anyone know how to uninstall it from my tool bar?

I had it on firefox, and when I right-clicked the toolbar and clicked on the (checked) word stumbleupon, it disappeared. It may come back when I restart, but at least I know how to free up more room on my screen... Hope that helps! =B=
