Only just the other day, I was playing EZQuake, the sublime Quake engine build for Linux, and was heard to remark in conversation upon falling into the lava after missing a platform jump for the third time, "I don't know whose idea it was to put jumping puzzles in Quake. It's a first-person shooter, not Super Mario Brothers!"
